Privacy Policy

What we collect and why

If you choose to submit your Poem to the Made in Manchester poem, the Poetry Library at Manchester Metropolitan University (Manchester Met) will collect and process the following data about you:

Our lawful basis for processing your name and contact details is ‘legitimate interests’. 

Our Press Team also want to get in touch with some participants for media purposes. We rely on your consent to pass your contact details onto them (taken via a tick-box on this submission form). You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing press@mmu.ac.uk.

Your poem and name will be held by the Poetry Library, and will be publicly accessible (online and through the dedicated Made in Manchester screen at Manchester Poetry Library). For this reason, please do not include any sensitive or identifying information in your poem. If you choose to provide contact details to be kept up to date about the use of your poem, these will not be further shared. If you have selected that you would like to be considered for future research projects your contact details will be shared with selected Manchester Met researchers who have completed the appropriate ethics reviews as required by University procedure. The researchers will use your details to contact you to ask if you would like to participate in any future studies about the archiving project.

We will retain your contact details for five years, after which point we will either delete your data or contact you to re-affirm your interest. If you consent to us sharing your contact details with the Press Team, they will delete your details when no-longer relevant, and in any case within six months. Your poem and name will be published and held permanently by the Poetry Library.
